TomKat Media and El Teatro Campesino announce new multimedia project
TomKat MeDiA, a California multi-platform media company, and El Teatro
Campesino, a California nonprofit theatre company today announced a
creative alliance to jointly produce and distribute a multimedia project
consisting of public school curriculum and a vintage radio drama/podcast.
The curriculum is for grades 4-8 and based on Luis Valdez’ play set during
the incarceration of Japanese Americans in World War II, "Valley of the Heart."
The radio drama is an audio performance of the play. Both the curriculum
and the radio drama were funded by a major grant from the California Civil
Liberties Public Education Program and the California State Library. A
feature lm adaptation of the play is in the works.
